Cork Nature Network’s July 9th Fundraising Concert
We at Cork Nature Network are delighted and excited to announce our upcoming concert to be held in conjunction with the Marina Market. Our special guest, and musician extraordinaire, Áine Duffy, will be on hand to play some tunes for a packed-out Marina Market on a summer’s Saturday afternoon in Cork City.

Cork Nature Network is a not-for-profit organisation with upwards of 40 volunteers. Our goal is to protect and conserve biodiversity, greenspaces, and natural habitats in Ireland. We do this through research, education, awareness, and committed effort from our team of volunteers.
At lunchtime (12 – 4pm) on July 9th, 2022, we are hosting a fundraising event with the aim of raising capital for our upcoming and continuous running projects. Áine Duffy is due to hit the stage at 2pm.
Our work involves the establishment of otter trails along with research that shows how urban areas are havens for a thriving otter population. Ireland’s otter population is thriving in comparison to many of our European neighbours.
We also manage Beaumont Quarry for its biodiversity, which contains a rare piece of habitat known as calcareous grassland with multiple rare plant species, most notably the little robin, which is only found in 11 places around Ireland.
We are also involved with Tramore Valley Park, a project on rivers in County Offaly, and the development of their biodiversity action plans. We are conducting research in West Cork and will be surveying 30 patches of well-known woodland in an attempt to assess their condition and to hopefully recommend strategies that will improve them for native biodiversity.
All donations given on the day will go towards the aforementioned projects along with similar ones. Small donations from lots of people can be spread quite wide and far by Cork Nature Network and we appreciate every single donation. You can keep track of our work through our website and social media accounts.

The Marina Market is a new and exciting venue in Cork City of the food-yard/boutique-trader variety that you’d find in major cities like Dublin, London, and New York. They continuously extend their repertoire of interesting cuisine and artisanal stalls. We are so pleased to be able to use their wonderfully atmospheric space as they have kindly agreed to host us for the day by giving us our own stall. They have also given us a prime position at a prime time to throw a prime gig.

Our special guest on the day, Áine Duffy, travels with her own stage on wheels – called her Duffbox. This is her ruby red horsebox that converts into a stage fitted with flashing lights and all. You’ll be able to find Áine by the couches for 1pm – so be sure to get a comfy seat and enjoy the show!
Áine is a Cork based singer-songwriter with a lifelong love of nature. We are so glad to have her enthusiasm and passion on board and we hope that you and the whole family come and experience her, “haunting, alluring vocals, and colourful dance floor worthy riffs.”

“I’ve wanted to work with Cork Nature Network, as I know the importance of nature and biodiversity. Protecting humanity means protecting our nature, and I hope in the future other children can feel the love I felt for nature as a child!” Áine Duffy
Midday, July 9th, the Marina Market. Bring the family and come and learn about what we do, eat some delectable food, drink some delicious coffee, and listen to some “grooves that don’t allow you to sit still.” We really hope to see you there.
